Timeline

2003

A Quebec company, Éolo Inc. , approaches professor Dumas in order to obtain expertise on the aerodynamic efficiency of a new wind turbine prototype system including two oscillating wings in a parallel configuration.

2003-2006

Student projects: development of theoretical and numerical models.

Performance analyses and preliminary optimization achieved through computational fluid dynamics simulations.

Early results are very encouraging (paper: “Parametric Study of an Oscillating Airfoil in Power-Extraction Regime”, AIAA Journal, Vol. 46, No. 6, June 2008).

Numerical modeling and simulations

2006-2009
